Key elements in the ongoing upgrading, double-tracking and electrification of the Airdie-Bathgate rail line have been the 2 new stations at Livingston North and Uphall. For their extensive disabled and wheelchair access ramps and walkways, Linea project managed the works on both stations from computer-generated Tekla detailing, through to construction and installation.
Steel columns support the superstructure of ramps serving both the north and south passenger platforms which incorporate safety grids on the perimeter balustrades and inclines, plus accessibility handrails. All metalwork had to be galvanised to stringent Network Rail specification.
The work involved top level project management and perfectly timed resourcing to meet the deadlines set by Network Rail as they progressively opened zones to the public.
